SIGAL UNIQA Group AUSTRIA is a group of the following insurance companies: SIGAL UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA (Non – Life, Albania), SIGAL Life UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA (Life, Albania), SIGAL UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA Kosova (Non Life, Kosova) ,SIGAL Life UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA Kosova (Life, Kosova), UNIQA Skopje a.d (Non-Life, Macedonia), UNIQA Life Skopje a.d (Life, Macedonia), the Managment Company of Private Pension Fund SIGAL Life UNIQA Group AUSTRIA and SIGAL UNIQA Reinsurance. The staff of SIGAL UNIQA Group, consisting of about 900 employees and agents, provides quality service in more than 50 branches that fully cover the territory of Albania, Kosova and Macedonia.
The History of SIGAL UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA
- 22 February 1999: SIGAL jsc 9the first company of the Group) was established,
- October 2003: SIGAL extended its activity in Kosova (SIGAL Kosova was established)
- October 2003: The Albanian-American Enterprise Fund acquired 13.3% of SIGAL's shares
- August 2004: SIGAL extended its activity in Macedonia ( SIGAL Skopje a.d was established)
- September 2004: the activity was expanded also in the life insurance segment through the establishment of SIGAL Life
- February 2006: SIGAL expanded its activity in the reinsurance segment (SIGAL Reinsurance was established)
- March 2007: SIGAL Holding was created in order to manage the interests of all SIGAL companies
- March 2007: UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA signed a cooperation agreement with SIGAL Holding
- December 2007: UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA became shareholder of SIGAL Holding with 45.64% of shares. SIGAL became part of the biggest insurance group in Central and Eastern Europe
- November 2009: UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA purchased additional 23% shares SIGAL Holding thus becoming the largest shareholder of the Group with 68.64% of shares
- November 2010: SIGAL Holding was absorbed by SIGAL UNIQA Group AUSTRIA jsc
- March 2011: The Management Company of Private Pension Fund SIGAL Life UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA was licensed to operate in the suplementary private pension market
- May 2011: the life insurance activitiy was extended in Macedonia (UNIQA Life Skopje a.d was licensed)
- September 2011: the life insurance activity was extended in Kosova ( SIGAL Life UNIQA GROUP AUSTRIA Kosova was licensed)
